Swimming Pool Safety
Here are some basic things to look for and listen to:
Tingling sensations are clear indications that there is an issue. This means there is a stray voltage circulating in the water. This leaves only one choice ... get out of the pool until a qualified electrician can repair the problem.
LOOK AROUND
- Any open junction boxes?
- Any overhead wiring that could fall into the pool?
- Any broken light fixtures nearby?
- Is the pool light discolored?
- Any electrical devices that you can touch while standing in the pool? Other than the pool light which is low voltage, you should not be able to touch anything electrical. If you can, it was probably installed illegally and could be harmful.
ASK
- Is the pool maintained regularly?
- Were any repairs or modifications done recently?
- Was the work done by a professional electrician?
If any of the above questions are concerning, don't use the pool until they are resolved by a qualified electrician
